Former newspaper editor-turned-combative-TV-presenter Piers Morgan has taken time to heap praise on a British political party leader. The 61-year-old journalist was enthusiastic in his presentation of Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch following her recent impressive performances in the House of Commons and on major national talking points, such as the murder of Henry Nowak.

Kemi, 46, was invited on Piers' show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, in January but the appearance was postponed after Piers broke his hip. However, the Tory leader made her first appearance on the show this week and Piers said she was becoming an "increasingly popular" politician.

Sharing clips from Kemi's appearance on his show, Pier wrote on the X social media site: "Been getting a lot of very positive reaction to my extended interview with Kemi Badenoch - which has now had over 600k views.

"Her party may still be very unpopular but Ms Badenoch is getting increasingly popular."

Grilling Kemi on the show, Piers said amongst his family and friends "everyone seems to be warming to you" and he said that he agreed with the idea of Kemi as the "most improved player" in this parliament.

He added: "How are you going to square that issue of your rising popularity with people on a personal level, but a residual distrust and dislike of your party, which many Brits for the chaos that we've now found ourselves in."

Kemi replied: "So you're absolutely right, I need to make sure the people understand what the party is like now under my leadership. We made a lot of mistakes over those 14 years, I wasn't there for all of it, I only became an MP in 2017, but what I want people to know is that those of who didn't like what was happening, who were complaining and trying to steer the party onto the right course, are now in charge.

"This is a new Conservative Party under new leadership."

Kemi spoke about her party junking the "good intentioned" but de-industrialising Net Zero mandate, and said the party had to be "much tougher" on immigration as they had "let a lot of people down".

Kemi also highlighted the enormous spending on the welfare state and pledged to get people working again, to which Piers agreed "it's ridiculous".
