Pensioner Ellen Russell has paid almost £1,000 extra in tax compared to a few years ago.

The lifetime Labour voter, 70, said she was “disgusted” by the ruling party and would never vote for them again.

Entrepreneur Ellen, who sells a clothing accessory online, said: “This year it went into almost £1,000 that I would have to pay extra tax because I’ve written books and from a little invention.

“Although I’m not making a lot of money, the tax implications of that are shocking.”

WASPI woman Ellen, who fought for compensation following historic changes to the state pension age, described how Britons are being “kept down” in this country because of tax implications.

She added: “The bottom line is they want pensioners dead and then they don’t need to pay our pension. It’s scandalous what’s going on.”

The author from Newcastle upon Tyne, who is furious by the axing of the winter fuel payment, receives a state pension and then a £2,000 private pension.

She accused Labour of carrying out an “attack on pensioners”, adding: “They really do want the pensioners dead.

“It’s shocking, absolutely shocking what’s happening. I think we really ought to be thinking about the devastation that these new rules are going to cause. I’ve heard so many people now say they wished to God they’d never voted Labour in.

“I’ve probably always been comfortable voting Labour and I’m disgusted with them. I’m absolutely disgusted. I’ve never disliked a government the way I dislike this one and by God that’s saying something.

“I would absolutely never vote for them again. I can’t believe their policies, their lies and what they stand for. I would never vote for Labour again.”
