Silky the hamster was given a wooly jumper to keep her warm
One-year-old Silky was taken to an animal shelter when her family moved to a colder area and could no longer care for her.
Staff noticed the shivering hamster huddled in the corner of her cage while trying to keep warm
Kind-hearted care technician Selene Mejia knitted Silky a 5cm long white wooly sweater complete with holes for her tiny paws.
A genetic mutation is causing Silky to go bald
Friends cast are replaced by tiny hamsters and it's so cute!
She’s now looking for a new home after beating an eye infection and being put up for adoption at the Oregon Humane Society, in the U.S.
Carer Diana Gabaldon said: “Silky is hairless due to a genetic mutation
The tiny jumper was specially knitted for the adorable rodent
She is just as cuddly and playful as any other hamster
“While she isn’t fluffy like a normal hamster. She is just as cuddly and playful as any other hamster.
“She does need to be kept in a heated environment, especially during the winter, and have a higher protein diet to keep her warm.’’
Silky's care technician Selene Mejia, is looking for a new home for the little cutie
Silky is able to survive without her sweater in a hamster cage as long as it is kept warm and clean.
But she wears the jumper “on special occasions” when she is taken out of the cage in order to stay warm.
