Turtle keeper Tom Fielding said: "Thank you to everyone so much for getting the message out - this is incredible.
"Clyde was really cold so the first thing we needed to do was to get her warm."
He added: "The water she was brought back in was incredibly cold but I'm just thankful she's back and we can get her back to fighting fit now."
Cheshire Police said officers are speaking to the people who returned the turtle to "establish the circumstances of the incident".

In an appeal on their Facebook page, Cheshire Police said earlier today: "At 5.30pm on 30th August we were called to the Blue Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere Port to a reported theft of a turtle.
"We are keeping an open mind on the circumstances at this time.
"Were you at the Blue Planet Aquarium today? Did you see anything suspicious?
"Did you see anyone enter any of the enclosures or perhaps in sodden clothing?
"Staff at the aquarium advise that without specialist care the turtle is likely to die."
