Kittens a whisker from fiery fate
TWO kittens were saved by a whisker from being thrown on to a bonfire after taking shelter in a pile of wood.
Kittens Popcorn and Marshmallow
Three-week-old moggies Popcorn and Marshmallow were about to be thrown on to the fire when Rob Gillen heard a cry.
The builder had been clearing debris in the garden of his boss Andy Southcott when he made the discovery in Southampton.
Mr Gillen, 28, said: “Luckily they made a noise because I could have just chucked them on without knowing.” The kittens have been taken to a Blue Cross rehoming centre in Southampton where they will be looked after by one of the charity’s foster carers until they are old enough to find a permanent home.
Danielle Mason, from the charity, said: “These two kittens had a really lucky escape.
“Their mum must have thought it was a nice safe, dry spot for them.”
