THIS incredible time-lapse footage shows menacing clouds and lightning fill the sky as vicious storms develop across America.

An intrepid photographer braved the fearsome weather conditions to record huge flashes of lighting, rolling cloud formations and bleak thunderstorms.
Nicolaus Wenger's footage, predominantly shot in his home state of Wyoming, shows what he describes as the "chaos" of a storm.
The time-lapse clip is played to a background of orchestral music as the images - which seem straight from an apocalyptic scene - are shown on screen.

All of the chaos usually occurs in the core of the storm
The 34-year-old photographer also travelled to Colorado, Montana, Nebraska and South Dakota between May and November 2014 to record the fearsome weather conditions.
He said: "I'm usually nervous around storms showing strong characteristics of producing tornadoes.
"So I try and give any wall clouds and other rapidly rotating cloud formations a bit of distance.
"The best views of storm structure are from a distance.

The clip, called Stormscapes, also captures quieter moments including clouds being pushed away from view by the light of the sun to show a beautiful rainbow.
