Nellie the nimble elephant spotted carefully negotiating a pesky fence
THIS Nellie the elephant is definitely no Dumbo.
It knows that in the bush you treat your environment with respect.
And that includes fences put up by farmers...even if you do weigh more than four tons and can bulldoze your way through.
This African elephant has chosen to tip-toe through the bush and climb over fences rather than trample them down.
First it lifted its front right leg over the wire, taking care not to touch it, then its left leg before repeating the process with its hind legs.
With one last stretch it was clear and free to continue its relentless search for food.
The images were posted on Facebook by Indri Ultimate Wildlife Tours, of Cape Town, South Africa, which said: “Our feeling when looking at these photographs is one of utter respect.”
Elephants, like Nellie, are facing the fencing in of their millennia-old routes across Africa.
