COP26: £290 million pledge to help countries battling environmental changes
MINISTERS at the COP26 climate change conference will today call for urgent action to support countries on the frontline.
It comes as a multi-million-pound British support package for countries battling environmental changes is announced. An extra £290million in new funding, including £274million support for countries in Asia and the Pacific, will be made available, the Foreign Office said.
International Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan will today lead a meeting with ministers from across the globe at the Glasgow summit to urge leaders to help make the world resilient to the impact.

Ms Trevelyan said: "We must act now to stop climate change from pushing more people into poverty. We are aiming for significant change that will ultimately contribute to sustainable development and a climate-resilient future for all, with no one left behind."
Billions of pounds in support for vulnerable countries has already been pledged by other developed nations with further pledges expected today.
