Crufts 2019: Golden Retriever Display Team show preview
The 128th edition of the Crufts dog show is underway after opening its doors at The NEC in Birmingham. Since the event’s conception in 1891, champion dogs from around the world have awed audiences with their aerial skills, exquisite breeding and coiffed coats. DAY TWO
8.33pm update: Dave the Boxer wins Working Group Winner
Crufts announced on its Facebook page: "Dave the Boxer has taken the title of Working group winner at #Cruftsthis year, he's off to Best in Show on Sunday.."
6.10pm update: Watch the Flyball competitors fly
Crufts has shared footage of some amazing dogs running at full speed in the Flyball Quarter Finals
The dog show wrote alongside the footage: "SDJC Bravehearts faced off against Aces in the Flyball Quarter Finals at Crufts"
5.10pm update: Border Collie Skiffle and owners wins Music Freestyle Final
Border Collie Skiffle and his owner Lucy Creek form Stratford-on-Avon, West Midlands, have won the Heelwork to Music Freestyle Final for a fifth successive year.
The pair beat win finalists in the four-minute routine set to music.
Owner Lucy said: “'I love hearing that roar of the crowd! Crufts is a chance to see all your friends in the doggy crowd.
“It's great to be able to see how all the dogs are getting on and being able to meet up with everyone is absolutely fantastic!”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, commented: “Congratulations to Lucy and Skiffle for their impressive routine. It was of the highest standard and demonstrated the patience, skill and dedication needed from both the dog and the handler.
“Heelwork to music is a challenging activity that demands a lot of time and talent to perfect. Skiffle and Lucy are a great example and inspiration for any dog owners out there who are interested in taking part in this fun and rewarding activity.”
3.15pm update: RSPCA criticises spects of CRUFTS on Twitter
The RSPCA is running a live Twitter update on the competition this afternoon.
The animal charity has already criticised the emphasis on looks at the dog competition.
One tweet read: "Dogs with altered tail structures (e.g. very curly or short tails) can have trouble communicating properly with other dogs as they can’t raise or wag their tails clearly #Crufts #LetDogsBeDogs"
But some of the comments are positive, another tweetd added: "We love seeing how excited these dogs get whilst doing agility! #Crufts"
1.30pm: What songs are being played as the dogs dance?
The talented dogs are showing off their best moves from films including Nightmare Before Christmas and Wicked.
The songs were chosen by their owners and they have been getting involved in all the fun too.
One owner wore a witches hat and her dog retrieved a broom for her owner.
12.29pm update: When will today's winners be announced?
The Heelwork to Music competition is currently underway.
Results will be announced for this category at 4.40pm.
Dogs who have won heats up and down country are competing to take home the coveted trophy.
Day two is now underway at the Birmingham NEC with the Agility and Fly Ball events taking place this Friday.

DAY ONE
Crufts officially opened at the Birmingham NEC on March 7 with the Gundog group kicking off the competition.
Four-legged friends of all shapes and sizes flocked to the centre for the annual competition, vying to secure victory.
The Gundog contest kicked off with some fierce competition, but it was Irish water spaniel Gloi Donn All or Nothing at Stanegate who came out on top.
The pooch became the first contestant to qualify for Sunday's Best in Show final.
