Ageing is a natural process for women, but there are ways to make your face look youthful without undergoing drastic plastic surgery.

Luckily, there a plenty of experts to help you find the perfect routine and help you avoid making some key mistakes.

One skincare pro is facial plastic surgeon Dr Monica Kieu, who has taken to TikTok to share three big mistakes that women often make that can make them look older than they actually are.

The first mistake highlighted by Dr Kieu is uneven skin tone, especially hyperpigmented spots.

She explained: "This can age you even more than wrinkles in the skin. I struggle with dark spots myself, it's something that I have to work on consistently.

"Lasers and chemical peels will help a lot as well as your daily skincare, like wearing your SPF, using your retinoids and, if needed, using skin-lightening agents like hydroquinone."

Volume loss is another thing that can make you look older, says Dr Kieu, adding that this is especially true for volume loss in your temples, around your eyes and in your cheeks.

She explains: "I see this a lot in patients who have had rapid weight loss, as in Ozempic, but luckily there a lot of treatment options for this.

"You can use something like hyaluronic acid filler or sculptra, which builds up your body's collagen."

The third mistake that can age you is thinning brows, with Dr Kieu arguing that while brow trends come and go, "full, healthy brows will always be in."

She advises: "If you've been a victim of over plucking there are ways to regrow your brows. There are topical agents such as minoxidil or latisse.

"You can try microblading, or what I've done is ombre powder brows. Eyebrow transplant is also an option."
