Spa report: Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa, Formby, Merseyside
FACILITIES
Formby Hall is set in 135 acres of tranquil parkland. For a £20 fee you can access all spa facilities including steam room, ice room, 20m indoor pool and mud steam room.
TREATMENTS AVAILABLE
The spa uses Phytomer face and body products which contain essential minerals found in seaweed. There’s a range of holistic therapies to restore calmness and relaxation within the body and mind. A treatment menu for men is also available.
TREATMENTS TESTED
Express Yourself Facial, £35,30 minutes, and Massage, £35,30 minutes
After discussing my skin type the therapist selected a cleanser and exfoliant from the Phytomer range. An eye mask was applied while I was treated to a scalp and neck massage.
When the mask was removed my skin felt dewy and the dark circles under my eyes had disappeared. I combined my treatment with a back, neck and shoulder massage with the therapist applying medium pressure to really work my tense muscles. Even though it was painful at times my back felt less tense and knot-free.
Take Thai ‘M’ Out Heat Massage, £50,60 minutes
This Thai-inspired massage aims to harmonise body and mind. At certain points during the massage the therapist applied bags of warm sea salt crystals along my spine and ankles and added pressure to stimulate my relaxation zones. A gel eye mask was applied followed by a heated facial mask. My head and neck were massaged while these were in place. I felt wonderfully relaxed as the therapist eased the tension out of my muscles using lavender oil.
GOOD POINTS
The friendly staff go the extra distance to ensure that your visit is as tranquil and stress-free as possible.
BAD POINTS
Even though I had a full spa tour before my treatments no one explained how to use some of the other facilities such as the ice room and gym machines.
THE COST
Treatments start at £25 plus an extra £20 if you want to use all the facilities.
