Sophie, Countess of Wessex arrived at the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, near Southampton today.
The 53-year-old royal met with members of the public before reopening the restored grade II listed Royal Victoria Chapel.
The Countess wore a black turtle-neck jumper with a long black skirt and matching black suede boots for the royal engagement.
She teamed her outfit with a midi length beige coat and added a long pendant necklace.
Wearing her hair in a chic low ponytail, Prince Edward’s wife added two pearl earrings to each ear.
The chapel is the last remaining parts of a military hospital which was opened by Queen Victoria in 1863.
Much of the building, which was used to treat wounded from the Boer War, the First World War and the Second World War, was ruined by a fire in 1966 however the chapel remained standing.
Sophie unveiled a plaque one day after Remembrance Sunday which commemorated the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice which marked the end of the First World War.
Yesterday she joined the Queen, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex for a remembrance service at the Cenotaph memorial in Whitehall.
