Forget Windows 10 Creators Update, Microsoft is about to redesign THIS iconic feature
MICROSOFT is still rolling-out Windows 10 Creators Update to users across the globe, but that hasn't stopped a new leak revealing what the technology company has planned for its next blockbuster operating system update.
Microsoft just pushed-out Creators Update, and the next Windows 10 redesign is already on the cards
Forget Creators Update, there are some much more exciting innovations from the bend for Windows 10 users.
A concept screenshot has purportedly revealed the company's plans to refresh the iconic Start menu.
But unlike the radical redesign that debuted with Windows 8 (which was met with widespread indifference) Microsoft appears to be planning a steady refinement of the design it first launched with Windows 10.
Renown Microsoft tipster Tom Hounsell published a new Windows 10 Start menu design concept.
The redesigned Start menu includes a new transparency effect and Live Tiles, like those that defined Microsoft's mobile phone operating system.
The new transparency gives the menu a sleeker, more modern look.
The new Start menu is expected to be unveiled as part of a larger overhaul, dubbed Project Neon
Despite Microsoft having yet to confirm the plans, the leaked image has been backed up by claimed "sources familiar with Microsoft's plans".
Speaking with tech blog The Verge, anonymous sources suggested that the Redmond-technology company has been experimenting with these type of transparency effects for some time.
Microsoft will likely reveal more details about its future Windows 10 design plans during the company’s Build developers conference in Seattle next month.
However, don't expect the new look to hit your desktop any time soon. Instead, the new feature isn't expected to drop until later in the year.
Then, it will be part of a larger refresh, reportedly dubbed Project Neon.
The news comes as fresh details about Microsoft's Amazon Echo competitor leaked online.
The hands-free smart home device, which was first teased by luxury audio brand Harman Kardon earlier this year, is expected to launch soon.
Microsoft has teased the upcoming announcement itself.
Windows 10's smart assistant fuels the smarts, but audio brand Harman Kardon will build the hardware
Microsoft has previously teased a Cortana-powered smart home device
The Redmond-based technology company recently debuted a new smartphone app for its virtual assistant Cortana, entitled "Device Setup".
The application walks users through the set-up process for Cortana-powered home devices.
The problem is – for now, at least – these Cortana-powered home appliances don't actually exist.
Microsoft has yet to formally unveil a smart speaker running its Siri and Alexa rival Cortana.
According to anonymous sources speaking to blog MSpoweruser, the company is preparing to invite Cortana users in the United States to be part of a device pilot scheme soon.
