Google Pixel 2 might have the best feature from the Samsung Galaxy S8
NEXT super-powered Android device could come with an eye-catching display that borrows from the Galaxy S8 as report claims the Google Pixel 2 is about to get curvy.
The Google Pixel 2 could be a hugely impressive device
The Google Pixel 2 could be something rather special.
Google’s next flagship smartphone is reportedly in production now, with the company set to launch the device soon.
Hopes are high for the new release after the original Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones won plenty of plaudits last year.
Now, a new report has claimed that the Google Pixel 2 might feature one of the most exciting features from the current Android champion - the Samsung Galaxy S8.
That’s because a new report has claimed that the Google Pixel 2 is set to feature a curved front display.
The news comes from South Korea’s Electronic Times, which claims that Google is set to invest in LG Display Company, the specialised screen design arm of the South Korean technology giant.
Google is reportedly set to invest around $880 million to make sure it gets access to the company’s curved OLED screens for its new device.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 display curves on both sides for a comfy grip
If true, Google would be the next major phone manufacturer to add curved screens to its mobile devices.
Last December, it was reported that the company had signed an initial deal with LG Display to deliver smartphone displays that fold out for a more flexible design than ever.
LG Display has reportedly already developed a working prototype panel, described as having a “significantly high” technical level, meaning that the new design could be set to appear soon.
Google Pixel has a few EXCLUSIVE surprises for users
Most recently, Samsung revealed that both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will come with curved displays that allow notifications and alerts to be placed along the side.
The company is also reportedly planning the world's first truly foldable smartphone.
The rumoured "Galaxy X" would be able to transform from a mobile device into something much bigger, opening up like a book to reveal a larger, tablet-sized display.
Apple and Microsoft have also signalled their interest in the “out-foldable” panels, which use OLED technology for super-detailed displays.
