Forget Android 7.0 Nougat, new Google mobile software could have these GREAT features
THE NEXT version of Android could be the most powerful to date as Google plans something special for Android 8.0 Oreo.
Google is set to reveal a whole new version of Android soon
Android 7.0 Nougat might already be due for a refresh.
Despite the latest version of Android still only being available on a small number of smartphones, Google is reportedly hard at work on its next big release.
Thought to be named Android 8.0 Oreo, the new software is expected to be shown off at Google I/O in May, giving us the first look at the future of Android.
However a new report claims to have got a taste of the next version of Android, and has revealed several pretty exciting new features and tools.
Three new features have apparently been uncovered by VentureBeat, all of which should make using your device simpler than ever.
The first, known as Copy Less, looks to make it easier to send information via text, as it will give your device the ability to automatically detect the relevant information you would want to copy from a source when you’re sending a text or an email.
This would bring together third-party apps to quickly provide suggestions for your conversations, such as a good nearby restaurant or the best way to drive there.
All of this should potentially make it less annoying to copy and paste into messages, without the need to delete reams of text afterwards.
Google revealed Android 7.0 Nougat nearly a year ago, so the software is ready for a refresh
Also set to be included is another key time-saving feature that looks to have been borrowed straight from Apple’s iOS.
Now, tapping on an address in a message will open up the location on Google Maps, cutting out the need to copy and paste details from one app into another.
Lastly, Android O could also include drawable gesture for the first time - so drawing a letter on your display would bring up applicable contacts or apps.
Google Pixel has a few EXCLUSIVE surprises for users
As mentioned, Google is expected to unveil more details about Android O at its Google I/O event next month.
The software is expected to carry the codename Oreo, following a major hint from a senior Google executive last month.
Currently, the most powerful version of Android is the beta edition of Android 7.1.2 Nougat, which was released as to Google Pixel and Pixel XL devices earlier this year.
This included the new “swipe for notifications” feature allowed users to swipe across the sensor to bring up their app alerts, rather than having to do so on the device’s screen.
The update also includes redesigned app shortcuts and better image keyboard support among other things.
