Facebook could be about to announce some BIG news
SOCIAL network giant closes in on a major milestone as Facebook users reach a new all-time high.
It's been another huge year for Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg
Facebook is one step nearer to completing its quest for world domination.
The social media giant has revealed that it is closing in on reaching the landmark figure of two billion unique users a month.
This would mean that just under a third of the world’s total population logs on to Facebook at least once a month.
Facebook is now expected to go from strength to strength this year
The news was revealed in Facebook’s most recent financial reports, which were announced today.
The results, which covered the full 2016 financial year, show that Facebook had another record year, seeing $8.8 billion (£7.02 billion) in revenue and $3.56 billion (£2.83 billion) in profit.
But the site’s growth was also reflected in its user base, as Facebook revealed that more than 1.23 billion people now log on to the site every day,
1.15 billion also access Facebook from their mobile or tablet devices each day.
This means that Facebook is now set to hit the magic two billion monthly active users by this summer.
The announcement comes as Facebook looks to continue improving and expanding its site and mobile apps.
The site has gone from strength to strength since its founding in 2004.
The company recently revealed that it would be expanding its UK workforce, particularly in its high-skilled engineering positions.
The expansion means that the technology company will employ 1,500 people in the capital in 2017, an increase of 50 per cent.
How to make sure your Facebook is SECURE
However the site’s popularity has meant that Facebook has become somewhat of a honeypot for online scammers and hackers alike.
Last month, a scam claiming that the social network would start charging its users to log in fooled many, despite it being a hoax.
Facebook has often had to remind users that the service will always remain free with a recent blog post stating: "Facebook is a free site and will never require that you pay to continue using the site."
