THERE’S great news for users of one of the world’s most popular smartphones as Samsung reveals its latest app for the Gear S3 smartwatch.
Samsung Gear S3 users will finally be able to pair their watch with this top device
Samsung may be closer than ever to burying the hatchet with its great rival Apple with the newest update for its Gear S3 smartwatch.
The company has finally revealed the companion iOS app for the Gear S3 smartwatch at CES 2017, meaning that users of the wearable will finally be able to pair their device to their iPhone.
Previously, only Android users wear able to enjoy pairing their smartphone with the Gear S3.
The new Gear S app, which is available to download from the iOS app store now for free, brings a number of useful features and updates.
For starters, it will let users download and install apps on the smartwatches, push notifications from the phone to the watch.
There’s also good news for fitness fans, as the app will let you sync health and fitness data using Samsung’s S Health service.
The Samsung Gear S3 is available in two options, Frontier and Classic
Along with the Gear S3, Samsung has also released apps for the previous generation Gear S2 device, as well as it’s Gear Fit wearable.
Both of these devices will also now be able to show notifications from the iPhone and send health data to the S Health service.
However although many Samsung wearables now sport full iOS connectivity, there's no update on the company's wireless earphones just yet.
The new Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch
The latest generation of Samsung’s wearables offers a number of improvements over past generations, but at £349, is pretty costly.
The Samsung Gear S3, which was first revealed back at IFA in September, is available in two styles, dubbed Frontier and Classic.
Frontier has been designed to act as both a fitness-minded watch, as well as a leisure wearable.
Meanwhile, the Classic variation “pays homage to the minimalist, elegant style found in the most iconic timepieces,” according to Samsung.
Express.co.uk recently reviewed the Gear S3 Frontier, calling the device, “a superb smartwatch”, although the high price remains an issue - you can read our full review here.
