Pets were left without their dinner after Petnet outage
Pets across the world were left hungry today after a tech-friendly feeding app suffered a catastrophic outage.
American firm Petnet, which makes smart pet feeders, experienced a major server outage last night, meaning that many animals were left without food for hours.
Petnet allows owners to schedule and monitor automatic food dispersal for their pets when they aren’t home using a smartphone app, which is available to download on iOS devices now.

Petnet confirmed the issue in an email to customers, saying ”We are experiencing some difficulty with one of our third party servers. This is currently being investigated.”
"You may experience a loss of scheduled feeds and failed remote feedings.”
“Please ensure that your pets have been fed manually until we have resolved this issue."

Angry users were quick to vent their outrage on Twitter, expressing anger that a product costing $149 and supposedly offering worry-free care for their pets was able to fail this way.
Users were also in disbelief that Petnet did not come with any backup services to deal with such outages in case of emergency.
