Windows 10 will be available as a free upgrade to users running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 within a year of July 29th.
The highly anticipated operating system – which Microsoft hopes will be installed on a billion devices within the first two years – will not be offered to those running older or pirated versions of Windows.

However – the Redmond firm this weekend announced a workaround for those users not eligible though the official upgrade program.
Users running the latest Windows 10 preview (build 10130) and signed up to the Windows Insider program will be upgraded to the final commercial version of the operating system, for free.
The complimentary upgrade will only apply to users running the beta of Windows 10 Home and Pro editions, head of the Windows Insider program Gabe Aul confirmed.
He tweeted: "As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA (Microsoft Account) you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build and remain activated."

The free beta upgrade provide a quick and easy way for those running Windows XP, Windows Vista or unofficial versions of Windows to get the final copy of Windows 10 free on July 29th.

Windows 10 is the biggest update to the Microsoft ecosystem in years and is due to be released in more than 190 countries in 111 languages, over the coming months.
The operating system, which comes in six variations – Windows 10 Home, Mobile, Pro, Enterprise, Mobile Enterprise and Education.
