Microsoft to overhaul Windows 8 in response to user complaints
MICROSOFT will update it's latest operating system Windows 8 in response to complaints from users which have been linked to a slump in PC sales.
The software giant announced tonight that the overhaul of it's flagship OS will not be released to consumers and businesses until later this year.
Windows 8 was initially released last October and the design, which utilises interactive tiles and touch controls, was greeted with a mixed reaction from PC users.
The release of the software allegedly contributed to a 14 per cent annual decline in worldwide PC sales during the first quarter of this year.
Are there things that we can do to improve the experience? Absolutely
Microsoft executive Tami Reller said: "Are there things that we can do to improve the experience? Absolutely.
"There is a learning curve (to Windows 8) and we can work to address that."
The changes to Windows 8 are part of a software package codenamed 'Blue', but Microsoft would not reveal what the upgrade would entail.
It is unclear whether Microsoft will charge existing Windows 8 owners for the software update or not.
