Forget your Echo speaker, some UK users get a new way to chat with Alexa

Amazon is rolling out a major change to Alexa in the UK that offers a new way to chat with this smart assistant. Millions of us are already shouting the words "Alexa" at our smart speakers, but there's now a new way to interact with this clever Amazon assistant. It's just been confirmed that Alexa.com has now arrived in the UK, allowing users to speak with the smarter Alexa+ upgrade via a web browser.

Amazon says users can head to Alexa.com to get quick answers, explore complex topics, create content, and even get help with the evening's homework.

This smart system can also sort the family calendar, control smart home devices and book dinner in a local restaurant.

There's also the option for it to plan the weekly meals, organise life admin and get a bunch of movies ready to watch based on previous recommendations.

"With more than half of UK households already having an Alexa-enabled device, Alexa is already deeply integrated into daily life," Amazon explained.

"But people are finding incredible value in how AI can help in every aspect of their day, and to truly serve as a personal assistant, Alexa+ needs to be available wherever they are—at home, on their phone, and now on the web. Alexa.com brings the full power of Alexa+ right to your browser."

Right now, this update is only available to those who have signed up for early access.

If that's you, simply head to alexa.com to interact with Alexa+ on any web browser including Chrome or Safari.

Then just type your requests into the Alexa search, or try one of the suggested hints under the chat window.

"We’re excited about the potential that new modalities will add to Alexa+, and there’s much more to come with the capabilities, partners and experiences we have planned," Amazon added.
