Facebook down: Users 'cant access' platform as Instagram also hit by 'outage'
Several Meta users, including people with Messenger, Facebook and Instagram accounts, were reporting issues this morning.
Thousands of Facebook users took to the Downdetector platform this morning, which allows users of sites to report issues and outages, to log problems they were experiencing. More than 4,000 people reported an issue with the social media platform this morning at approximately 8.45am. Throughout the morning, it emerged the issue was global, with people experiencing problems also in the US, Australia and Malaysia among other countries.
One Facebook user wrote on Downdetector: "Can't access Facebook, just says account unavailable". Another wrote: "As soon as I log on the website, it says 'account temporary unavailable' the mobile app is fine. It's the third time in a month this has happened". Other Meta users, including people with Facebook Messenger and Instagram account, also reported issues. The problem across all platforms was resolved before noon. Meta didn't immediately share the nature or cause of it.

Facebook is back
Facebook users appear to now be fully able to access their accounts.
Meta hasn't yet released a statement on the outage.
Instagram still down
Many X account holders have taken to the social media platform to ask fellow internet users whether Instagram is working for them.
One wrote: "Is Instagram down?"
A second said: "Is instagram down for anyone else?"
Another joked: "Instagram must be down I thought I got banned"

This is the message appearing on Facebook for users who can't access the platform via the site.
Issues being reported across the world
More than 4,000 Facebook users based in the UK took to Downdetector by 8.45am to report issues accessing the site.
But many other around the world are experiencing problem too, comments online suggest.
One wrote on Downdetector: "Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Perth, Australia"
Another user from Texas wrote said to have been met by the same alert.
A third shared the same experience, saying to be based in Myanmar.
Meta contacted for comment
We have reached out to Meta for comment on the outage.

'Everybody goes to X'
While some Facebook users experiencing issues with Facebook have expressed their disappointment, one joked people are now moving to a different social media platform, X, while the issues are being resolved.

Instagram users also reporting issues
While thosands of Facebook users have taken to Downdetector this morning, fewer people have reported issues with Instagram.
Some 1560 people said to be experiencing issues on the picture-sharing platform shortly after 9am.
One of them wrote on Downdetector, seemingly reporting the issue she was presented with on the site:
Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.
Issues 'not impacting app'
The issue being experienced by Facebook users doesn't appear to be affecting the Facebook mobile app.
One Downdetector user said:
As soon as I log in to the website it says 'Account Temporarily Unavailable'. The mobile app is fine but this is the third time in a month this has happened on FB and it's p*****g me off.
'Account temporary unavailable'
Several Facebook users have taken to Downdetector to share the issues they are experiencing.
Many, trying to access the social media platform, are being welcomed by the message "account temporary unavailable".
Emma wrote on the site:
So blooming annoying. Keep getting 'Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.'
