VPNs have seen a surge in popularity in recent years for a number of reasons, whether that’s online safety, privacy, or tuning into the latest TV series while abroad. They can also be used to save money while shopping online, including bagging cheaper flights by connecting to other countries.

However, the VPN market has become somewhat crowded as different providers fight for our hard earned cash. Luckily, there are usually plenty of money-saving deals floating around the web if you know where to look.

Some big name brands like NordVPN and Surfshark have cut their prices to as low as 8p per day, providing secure and convenient access to their services for hundreds less than the original price. For those who want to see our favourite VPNs, read our article here.

Otherwise, carry on for the best VPN deals we've found for 2026.

NordVPN

NordVPN remains a popular VPN to use and when it comes to money-saving deals they have some enticing offers worth considering. Nord has cut the price of its two-year basic VPN plans to £2.59 per month, so it now costs £62.16 for the first 24 months.

However, it has also cut the cost of its Plus and Ultimate packages to £2.89 and £5.19, respectively. In all, these NordVPN deals knock up to 73% off the original price and cost as little as roughly 8p per day, a price that only comes around once in a blue moon.

NordVPN serves more than 125 countries around the world, which can help customers get things cheaper and help protect their privacy while browsing the web. NordVPN has a verified no-logs policy, meaning it doesn't track or store your online activity and has strong encryption, like AES-256-bit, to secure internet traffic.

It also has a built-in kill switch that protects data by blocking internet access if the VPN connection drops. Users also don't need to worry about internet speeds getting throttled, as it offers lightning-fast speeds—no matter where they connect.

The Mirror reviewed NordVPN here for those who want to know more. Shoppers can also read our review of what we thought about the service here.

Surfshark

Surfshark also has some mega price cuts on offer for its VPN plans now as little as £1.38 per month. The popular VPN provider is offering two-year plans for £37.26, which is cheaper than NordVPN's deal and comes with an extra three months of service.

Surfshark has fewer servers than some of its rivals and can sometimes be a little slower, but unless users are moving huge amounts of data around, that's unlikely to be a problem. Again, there are apps for a wide range of devices, but Surfshark also doesn't limit the number of devices on the same contract, so users can sign in across all their devices, protecting the whole family when they're on their travels.

We have praised Surfshark for its great value, but as mentioned, it can’t really match NordVPN in terms of speed and servers.

ProtonVPN has launched a spring sale for those looking for a great deal and offers something many other VPN providers don't. That's because it offers 12-month plans alongside the usual 24-month plans offered by most of the major providers.

Proton is offering its VPN Plus plan for £2.79 for 12 months. This comes with Proton's premium VPN service, which is Swiss-based and has more than 15,000 servers in around 120 countries.

The brand is known for its strict privacy commitments, no-logs policy and offers advanced features like Secure Core for enhanced privacy. All Proton apps are also 100% open source and independently audited by security experts.

For those who want to truly secure their privacy, Proton also offers additional apps on its Proton Unlimited tier, featuring high-tier encryption for £7.99 on a 12-month agreement.

When it comes to its advantages and reviews, many have praised Proton for its open and great privacy commitments for its apps and VPN, with many believing it's one of the best out there in terms of privacy. However, others criticise its lack of a 24/7 live chat compared to other premium VPN companies.

What is a VPN and why is it useful?

VPNs have become a much more useful tool in recent years since the introduction of the Online Safety Act, which requires people to verify themselves when accessing certain websites. This appeared a step too far in terms of privacy for some, as it led to a surge in VPN purchases.

That's not all though, as VPNs can be extremely useful in terms of saving money for things like flights, online purchases and more by connecting to another country, which can also be done with rival brand Express VPN. VPNs create a secure tunnel and send online traffic through it.

This includes everything from one’s web browser as well as any apps, streaming video services, video calls and messaging apps and torrent downloads. A protective layer of encryption prevents bad actors on the same Wi-Fi network from peeking at the data being sent between you and the websites or online services being used.

This is why it's a good idea to use them when accessing the web from public Wi-Fi networks, like those found in airports and coffee shops. Without encryption, it's possible to steal sensitive data as it's being transmitted.

For those concerned about how much data advertisers can accumulate on them, a VPN can help keep browsing habits locked away from prying eyes. Finally, VPNs have the ability to change one’s location by manually altering an IP address.

Every time one’s device connects to the internet it’s automatically assigned an IP address, which includes information about the location where you've connected to the web.
