Discounts on mobile phones are soaring as retailers start to drop their prices this November ahead of Black Friday. The latest Amazon offer to launch overnight may convince you to scratch the Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy deal off your list...and pick a Google Pixel instead.

That's because Amazon has dropped a huge £500 off the Pixel 8 Pro smartphone, as the 2023 model reaches one of the lowest ever prices. It now costs £599, as its cut from the usual £1,059 price.

Making it only £50 more expensive than the smaller Pixel 8 model, despite having a bigger 6.7-inch screensize and heftier RAM storage. And as many Apple or Samsung fans will know it's rare to find a rival smartphone for a similar less than £600 price, even in the sales.

To show how good Amazon's surprise Google Pixel price drop is, Samsung fans looking for a similar 2023 model would pay £699 for smaller S23 at Very - and yes, this is only 128GB not 256GB and has smaller RAM storage, and 6.1-inch screen.

So, we've picked out the best overnight Black Friday deal but there are a few things you may need to know to take this Google Pixel offer to the checkout. First off, is knowing which colour to pick - as it will influence the price.

Amazon stocks three colours, the Obsidian black, Bay blue, and Porcelain but it's the black and blue models which are discounted to the lowest £559 price. The Porcelain one is slightly more at £599.

Next, Amazon is offering another deal that not all shoppers will spot—but it's being offered for free with this Pixel 8 Pro offer. That's a 60-day free subscription to Audible, which can be found under the Google deal in the 'promotional message'.

The Express tech team has previously tried out the Google Pixel 8 Pro model, calling it 'pure Android Bliss'. Henry Burrell recommended the model for non-Apple and Samsung fans. As he said: "If you want the best smartphone around that isn't an iPhone, the Google Pixel 8 Pro could well be it."

Continuing his review, he also highlighted the perks of this often 'lesser-picked' Android device: "The Google Pixel 8 Pro is a superb all-round smartphone with an excellent screen, amazing cameras, solid performance and decent battery life.

"It’s a big phone - many are these days - but it packs in better specs and cameras compared to the smaller, cheaper Pixel 8. Though Google wants you to use its fancy AI features to erase people from photos or change how the scene looked, the Pixel camera is best when used as a point-and-shoot for incredibly good snaps in all lighting conditions, with minimal blur.

"The phone accurately portrays all skin tones, not something every phone can successfully do, while the 5x optical zoom lens is of great quality." At the time of writing, our review pointed out an expensive downside to the Pixel 8 Pro model, as Henry called it 'the most expensive the Pixel has ever been' - but this £500 off Amazon deal certainly helps scratch that.

Another feature 'we didn't like' at the time of reviewing the model, which may be worth shoppers knowing, is the charging is considered to be slow compared to other industry models. Alternatively, Amazon isn't the only retailer launching early Black Friday deals as O2's S24 discount catches shoppers' attention too.
