WhatsApp update offers new features, but something big is still missing
WHATSAPP has just pushed out a major iPhone update but despite it including a number of new features, there's still something that is missing.
WhatsApp users have just been treated to some brand new features from the team behind this popular chat app. The latest feature-packed iOS update comes hours after WhatsApp users were cautioned about a new hack that allowed criminals to read every single one of their WhatsApp messages behind their back.
The latest iOS update, includes tweaks to how users can listen to voice messages, as well as send Apple's fun personalised MeMoji stickers, which were introduced in iOS 13. The stickers, which use characters that look like you and assume a number of poses that will be familiar to anyone who has sent an emoji before, are one of the best iOS 13 features.
If you own an iPhone then it's worth checking you have this new Version 2.19.100 upgrade installed on your device as it's a pretty useful update. Especially if you send (or recieve) a lot of voice messages, as these can now be played from the notification – so you won't even have to launch the app.
Here are all the new features that are included...
• You can now quickly edit and send back media in your chats. Tap the doodle icon when viewing an image or video to get started.
• Voice messages can now be played directly from notifications by long pressing and tapping play.
• You can change font styles in the camera by tapping the “T” icon.
• Memoji can now be sent as stickers from the emoji keyboard on iOS 13.
If you're using iOS 13 you can check for this upgrade by heading to the App Store and tapping on your profile in the top right corner.
This is where you'll see all the apps that need updating, or that have recently been upgraded.
Dark Mode continues to be something many are waiting for... but there's no sign of it in this latest upgrade.
What makes this even more strange is Apple recently added Dark Mode to its iOS 13 operating system upgrade. The system-wide Dark Mode, which inverts all the bright white colours found across the software to dark greys and pitch-black. Apple has made the Dark Mode option available to third-party developers.
Despite iOS 13 only being available for a few short weeks, Facebook, which owns WhatsApp, is already taking full advantage of this design change with one of its iPhone apps.

With Instagram and Facebook Messenger both now giving fans the chance to turn to the dark side, it would surely make sense for WhatsApp to follow.
There's been plenty of rumours and talk of this upgrade arriving soon, but it seems WhatsApp fans will have to wait a little longer before this change finally arrives on their phones.
