PADDY POWER customers struggled to get online tonight as app and website crashed leaving customers without access to their accounts after Grand National
UPDATE: Paddy Power is back online after customers struggled to gain access after the Grand National.
ORIGINAL STORY: Paddy Power customers have been left unable to access the popular betting app and website after today's Grand National from Aintree.
The issues appear to have begun at around 5.45pm, just after the race had ended, with thousands of complaints from customers trying to claim their winnings after the famous event.
Down Detector, which monitors social mentions across the web, is showing thousands of reports across the UK.
Areas including London, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham and Birmingham have all been hit according to Down Detector's map.
There are also plenty of reports across social media.
Angry punters have flooded sites such as Twitter with one saying: "@paddypower come on!!! Been waiting 45min and still won't let me log on."
And another added: "I’ve won £200 odd but can’t get on the paddy app because it’s crashed".
It's currently unclear what has caused the issues with the app and website or when they will be fixed.
The Grand National is one of the biggest events of the year for bookmakers with them predict £250m will be spent on betting for this year's race.
