Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Google Pixel 3 could soon have a budget camera rival
HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro and the Google Pixel 3 could soon be radically challenged by a forthcoming budget rival, a new leak has hinted.
Huawei's award-winning Mate 20 Pro and the Pixel 3 from Google are considered to have two of the best smartphone camera systems on the market.
The Mate 20 Pro comes with a triple-camera setup that is comprised of a 40-megapixel main, 20-megapixel wide-angle and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens.
The three sensors combine to deliver an incredibly diverse experience that was commended by Express.co.uk in our Mate 20 review.
We said: "Huawei Mate 20 Pro offers by far the most flexible camera system on the market thanks to its triple-array of snappers that are each incredibly capable.
"The wide-angle sensor present allows for much more to be crammed into a shot and is a saving grace when you are struggling to fit a subject into a frame on the standard lens.
"Unlike the telephoto tools present on a number of other flagships, we found ourselves using the wide-angle lens with regularity."
Meanwhile, the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL employ a single 12.2-megapixel lens that harnesses the power of Google's clever machine learning technology.
During our testing of the device we were astounded by some of the shots the Pixel 3 was able to capture.
In fact, we labelled the Pixel 3 as having the "best rear camera on a smartphone right now" in our review of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
Although both the Mate 20 Pro and Pixel 3 have laudable camera systems, it appears both devices are about to be radically challenged by a new budget rival.
Russian outlet Rozetked recently published images of a phone it claimed was a forthcoming Pixel 3 "light" smartphone.

The device looked extremely similar to the current Google Pixel 3 but featured a bright yellow lock button instead of the mint green currently available.
Moreover, the outlet insisted the hardware has a 5.56-inch screen that harnesses LCD technology rather than the OLED present in both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
Most notably, it was said a Snapdragon 670 chipset will power the device instead of the top-tier Snapdragon 845 from Qualcomm that is present in the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL and a cavalcade of other Android flagships.
A headphone jack was also displayed on the top of the product, a design characteristic that has not appeared on a Pixel phone since the original device that released back in 2016.
A number of other claimed specifications include a 2915mAh battery, a single 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 12-megapixel rear sensor.
In fact, the Russian publication declared the Pixel 3 "lite" will be just as capable as the regular Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL when it comes to taking photos.
And the outlet even posted claimed sample photos from the device that boasted high levels of detail.
The less-premium processor and display appear to be two factors that will help Google sell the Pixel 3 "lite" at a much lower price point than the standard Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL it was claimed.
Rozetked even speculated the Pixel 3 "lite" could sell for $400 (£312.21) and $500 (£390.26).
It added the alleged device is expected to debut in the first half of next year.
Although Rozetked was responsible for leaking both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL ahead of Google's official reveal, it is worth noting nothing about a Pixel 3 "lite" has been confirmed by the Mountain View firm.
