I unblocked my drain overnight with 1 powerful item cleaner swears is a ‘miracle’ product
I recently heard a cleaning influencer rave about the power of a specialist drain unblocker, so I decided to give it a go on my shower drain that's constantly getting blocked. Safe to say it worked like a charm.

My shower drain is constantly getting blocked, as we have some problems with our upstairs plumbing. I always find that water takes ages to drain, leaving my feet fully covered by standing water in the shower tray. The blockages are caused by a mix of hair and soap scum, so it’s impossible to stop them from forming. As I’ve not kept on top of cleaning my shower drain, I was in need of a powerful product.
Cleaning influencer Kaye Marie has raved about a “miracle” product that unblocks drains and tackles hidden plughole dirt in 30 minutes. Sharing her four-step drain cleaning method using Buster Bathroom and Kitchen Drain Unblockers, I decided to follow it using said product. While Kaye claims you only need to leave the drain unblocker sitting for 30 minutes, I decided to leave it overnight, as my drain was in a bad state. The next morning, I ran the shower to test out the drain, and the water ran down so much faster.

Before tackling the drain, I started by cleaning the bottom of my shower tray to remove as much of the soap scum and limescale as possible. I also made sure to remove as much hair from the drain as possible.
Despite the cold temperatures, I made sure to open my window before pouring out the drain unblocker. I just left the bathroom windows open for 30 minutes to allow fresh air to circulate while the product works.
Next, it was time to empty a full bottle of the drain unblocker and leave it sitting there overnight. If you only have a mild blockage, 30 minutes should be enough time to leave the product sitting.
The description of the Buster Bathroom Drain Unblocker on Amazon reads: “Hair, sludge and soap scum are the usual suspects for slow-draining pipes, but one shot of concentrated Buster bathroom plug unblocker goes straight to the blockage and dissolves all the nasties.
“It doesn't matter if it's slow-draining water or a full blockage, the fast-acting shower drain unblocker gets to work almost instantly.”

The next morning, I used hot water to flush the drain. To do so, I boiled the kettle and left the water to cool down a little.
You never want to pour boiling water down the drain, as it can damage the pipes, as they are not designed to carry water at such high temperatures.
I then turned on the shower, and the water was running down the drain perfectly well and not clogging at all.
Despite this £4.55 drain unblocker not being the cheapest solution, it does work incredibly well on blocked drains.
