Keeping your pillows fluffy can be hard and continually buying new ones can be expensive. Making sure your pillows don’t lose their shape is key to comfort. Getting a good night’s sleep is crucial to health and wellbeing. Huge amounts of people forget that your sleeping environment is a big part of your sleep quality.

After a long day, the last thing you want is to find you can’t get cosy enough to nod off. If you’re looking for a way to fluff up your pillows and bring back a bit of padding without buying new ones, there’s one item you can use to help.

A tennis ball

Canningvale says: “Always check the care label first! Pop your pillow into the washing machine on a gentle cycle, then into the dryer with a couple of clean tennis balls or dryer balls.

“This method is a game-changer for pillows with synthetic fillings like polyester or microfibre. The balls help prevent clumping and keep the fill evenly fluffy.”

While using a tennis ball might sound strange, this tried and tested trick can work wonders.

You should fluff up your pillow every day but every once in a while it might need some extra help.

Canningvale has also shared some other tips on keeping your pillows in their best condition.

It says you need to let your pillows breathe. Make sure to air your pillow out regularly, especially if it’s been trapped under heavy bedding.

There are plenty of pillows which are machine washable, but some are not.

It’s crucial to make sure you check the washing label on your pillow before putting it into the machine to make sure you use the right setting.

By following this unusual trick, you could find your pillow is restored to its original fluffiness and you’ll feel more comfortable in bed.
