The woman, posting on an account with the username @mama_mila_, says you should use a mixture of baking soda and lemon to deodorise your sinks and drains.

The lemon will leave a fresh, natural fragrance that helps keep the drain smelling clean while the baking soda will help break down grease and grime.

Martha Stewart says you should clean your drains monthly to make sure you stay on top of any dirt which could be building up.

She says: “The natural deodorizer of baking soda, combined with the citric acid of lemon juice, creates a natural cleaning combination for the drain.

“It's a similar method to baking soda and vinegar but with the fresh scent of lemon juice, which can help neutralize funky odors.”

To use this cleaning method, you will first need to remove any visible debris or hair near the drain opening.

Next, pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain and follow with half cup of lemon juice.

Then, cover the drain with a stopper or rag and let the mixture fizz for 15 to 30 minutes.

After the waiting period, you should carefully pour a pot of boiling water down the drain to flush it clean.
