‘Amazing!’ Mrs Hinch fans share tip to remove metal rust with one popular household staple
CLEANING rust off metal can be difficult, especially if residue has built up over time. However, cleaning enthusiasts has shared a handy tip to restore metal objects to their former glory - and it costs as little as 43p.

Metal objects in bathrooms, such as towel radiators and trays found in showers, can easily become rusty. This is due to soap residue and minerals left in the water, both of which are left behind after you use the bathroom. Luckily, there are easy ways to get rid of the rust.
Mrs Hinch is a cleaning influencer who rose to fame after sharing her cleaning tips and tricks on social media.
The cleaning star now has four million followers on Instagram and even her own homeware range.
Some fans of Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie, has created Facebook pages in her honour.
On one such page, with thousands of members, one woman asked for advice on how to get rid of metal rust.

Many metal objects can be found in the house, such as trays in showers, towel radiators, or grills in ovens.
Unfortunately, these objects can become rusty very quickly.
The Mrs Hinch fan posted an image of her towel radiator with specks of rust on it, accompanied by the caption: “Advice for cleaning rust off a towel radiator?”
Fortunately, the post was inundated with various tips and trick on how to get rid of rust.
But one tip stood out from the rest.
Many Mrs Hinch fans recommended removing the rust with one popular household product: tomato ketchup.
A bottle of ketchup costs as little as 43p in Tesco.
One person said: “Scrunched up tinfoil and tomato ketchup works amazing on rust.”
Another person added: “Ketchup on a scrunched up piece of foil.”
One person simply wrote: “Ketchup and tinfoil.”
“Try silver foil scrunched up and tomato sauce,” another cleaning enthusiast said.
However, some Mrs Hinch fans had other cleaning ideas.

One person said: “Steel wool pads – I just used them two days ago.”
Another person advised: “Elbow grease paste all day long! I used it on a mirror I had that went like this and it almost came up brand new with very little effort and a tub of the stuff I quite cheap. Just rub it on with a micro fibre cloth.”
“Pink stuff,” one person recommended.
Another cleaning enthusiast commented: “Metal cleaning paste from Lakeland.”
One person added: “Try hot soapy water and scrunch some tin foil up. Dip in the water and rub over.”
