Speaking about the potential shortage Emma Monaghan, Sparkling Wine Buyer at Sainsbury’s said:
"Prosecco has long been one of our most popular lines and our excellent supplier relationships means we are confident we will be able to maintain the appropriate levels of stock for our customers without in any way compromising on the quality of our award winning offering.
"However, we are also introducing new and interesting alternatives to Prosecco like Pignoletto to offer customers a wider choice of affordable sparkling wines.”
Pignoletto is also produced in Italy and is a rising star in the world of bubbly.
