The weather has suddenly turned, and the winter looks grim, but this electric blanket has been a revelation for Emma Gill.
As the season starts to change, some chilly Brits are already considering switching on their central heating.
However, with energy costs set to rise next month and numerous pensioners bracing for the colder months without the Winter Fuel Payment, cheaper alternatives to stay warm are in high demand.
This week, as the chill made its first appearance, Manchester Evening News reporter, Emma Gill, decided to heed Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis's advice to 'heat the human, not the home'.
Being the only one at home during weekdays, Emma felt it would be wasteful to heat every room, So, to keep myself slightly warmer, she opted to try an electric blanket, currently discounted from £46 to £32 at Worsley-based Online Home Shop.
Describing the blanket as user-friendly, she said "You simply unbox it, plug it in, and it's ready to use. It features a button to adjust the heat, with one being the lowest setting and nine the highest.
"Additionally, it comes with a timer that can be set anywhere between one and nine hours."
Emma continued: "I monitored the electricity consumption and found it used merely 20 watts per hour, which translates to roughly 1p an hour.
"Measuring 130cm by 160cm, the blanket is sizeable but not overly so, and incredibly soft, boasting a smooth fleece lining on the inside and a fluffy 3cm pile on top.
"The remote and wires are fully detachable, meaning if you use it frequently - as I fully intend to - you can wash it at 30 degrees and it'll come out as good as new."

The innovative electric blanket is raking in rave reviews, with customers gushing over its warmth and cost-saving benefits. "I love this product as it saves me putting my heating on as much," one satisfied customer remarked on the OHS website.
