McVitie's has whipped up a storm with its latest mouth-watering announcement of a new flavour of chocolate Digestive.

And while the biscuit is set to conquer the snack aisle, sending devotees into a whirl of excitement, the limited-time chocolate treat is hard to come by.

Chocolate biscuit fans can still indulge in the classic milk and dark chocolate varieties, but the brand is now spicing things up with a seasonal twist.

As the countdown to Christmas begins, store shelves will sparkle with a "festive edition" McVitie's favourite.

Social media is abuzz as fans have taken to Instagram to express their eagerness for the gingerbread-flavoured biscuit, though some report difficulties tracking down this tantalising treat.

Frustrated connoisseurs are scouring supermarkets with cries across the digital landscape like: "I cannot find these anywhere. I've been to 4 different Sainsbury's near Stockport."

In eager anticipation, friends are being enlisted in the hunt with pleas such as: "You need to find me these in Sainsbury's."

Despite minor resistance from purists who urge McVitie's to "not f**k with perfection," curious debate flares over whether the festive concoction hits the sweet spot or not.

Amid the chatter, one opinion emerged: "I felt there isn't an overly gingerbread taste while eating them, but they leave the gingerbread taste as an afterthought lol."

Asda's own glistening endorsement brings clarity, detailing: "A festive twist on the popular McVitie's Milk Chocolate Digestives, these delicious Gingerbread flavour biscuits have been infused with a warming gingerbread flavour and lots of cheer. These festive Chocolate Digestives are perfect for dunking in your tea or leaving out for Rudolph and his friends."

McVitie's has announced the return of its gingerbread-flavoured biscuits, a festive treat not seen since 2020.

James King, McVitie's marketing director, commented: "The stellar performance of Seasonal Biscuits is largely being driven by demand for assortments, particularly at the more premium end of the scale, as shoppers look to elevate in-home occasions with special snacks ready made for sharing, like our best-loved McVitie's Victoria selection."
