Woman who regrets light grey carpets finds ingenious way to fix problem
There are likely aesthetic choices you regret making in your home, but one woman shared how to fix her ‘biggest regret'.
If your carpet is looking a little lacklustre and in desperate need of TLC, it turns out you’re not alone.
@ourhouse_tohome took to TikTok to share that her grey carpet was her “biggest regret”, especially because it was light grey.
“It gets SO dirty and it's so flat now”, she explained in the caption of her TikTok video, showing others in a similar situation how to get them looking good as new.
Carpets are likely to get stained easily thanks to being walked all over day in day out, pets, and pesky kids not taking their shoes off at the front door.
She admitted that she “hadn’t cleaned it since Christmas”, so it had been seven months since she’d managed to get round to it, and she said she knew it was “long overdue”.

First, she used a “carpet scraper from TikTok shop” to lift all the bits of carpet and random debris off the main carpeted floor.
She said she “always uses it” before “going in with a hoover” because it “loosens up anything stuck in the carpet”.
When using her carpet cleaner, she said she uses: “Whatever I’ve got in the cupboard”.
She said she’d “never had a problem”, but urged others not to “try this at home”, just in case their carpet cleaner broke.
The cleaning guru shared that she uses the Shark Stain Striker, saying it’s a 10/10 machine.
She said the colour that the water came out of the machine was “disgusting”, and she “didn’t realise they were this dirty”, especially because her family doesn’t “allow shoes or dogs upstairs”.
She joked that she’d “underestimated how much of a workout this [cleaning the carpet] is”, saying that she needed to take a break because she was “sweating from head to toe”.
She said it looked “brand new” when she’d finished as she flaunted the results.
