We all need a frying pan to cook our favourite foods – from eggs to bacon to burgers.

It's a staple when it comes to cooking as it's vital to get so many of our favourite dishes tasty, but it doesn't half get dirty when you're doing your thing.

Food often sticks to pans as they get attached to the pan during the cooking process, and nobody enjoys trying to clean them afterwards. Not to mention, it's annoying to lose food due to it getting stuck, so it's pesky in more ways than one.

Luckily, an expert has shared some super useful advice on how to avoid it when using stainless steel pans. It's said using a simple trick can work wonders and, it must be good, as it's recently gone viral on TikTok.

So, pans at the ready, as the way you fry your food is about to change forever – and for the better!

According to Proclamation Goods, doing one simple thing will stop your food from sticking to the pan, and they recently demonstrated this in a TikTok video. The woman in the explainer clip said the odds are – you're not re-heating the pan correctly.

She said all you need to do is test it before adding your food in. If you pop your pan on a medium heat and add a spoonful of water to it, you'll be able to see if it's hot enough.

If the water is still or just sits there then she said it's not hot enough. On the flipside, if the water splits into "many tiny beads", then it's too hot.

What you're looking out for is for the water to form a bead that "glides around in one piece". This means the pan is ready to use.

She said it should "look like mercury". When you stop making this mistake, she said food should stop sticking to the pan.

Since the tip was shared online many people have been left in disbelief. It looks as though we've all been using our pans wrong for years.

When you think about it, it probably explains a lot. We all end up with sticky bits while cooking now and again.

One person said: "I love this." Another wrote: "Most useful hack. This actually works and I always use it."

A third replied: "Used this today. It works." Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "Or just use butter."

Some people were quick to say they didn't have time for it though, and they claimed to have an easier option. Most foodies noted it would be much easier to just use a non-stick pan, and they may have a point.
