MILLIONS of Britons are putting their lives in danger by not going for regular blood pressure check-ups, research has revealed.

Shockingly, one in 20 Brits have never had the vital check and around half of those who die will have never known they had treatable raised blood pressure.

May Measurement Month is an initiative led by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) and the World Hypertension League to highlight the need for more awareness.
ISH research suggests up to one in nine men have never been checked, compared to one in 100 women.

Neil Poulter, of Imperial College London, said: “The biggest issue we face is that many people do not realise they have high blood pressure until it’s too late.
“They can suffer a stroke or heart attack without any warning, which is why regular check-ups and preventative measures are crucial. Getting checked is quick, simple and free.”
