Hope for Alzheimer's sufferers with new breakthrough drug
ALZHEIMER’S sufferers could be helped to grow new brain cells in a major breakthrough, researchers revealed yesterday.
Scientists are to start trials of a drug, allopregnanolone, that helps reverse damage caused by the disease.
Details were revealed at an international Alzheimer’s conference in Boston.
Dr Doug Brown of the UK’s Alzheimer’s Society, said: “It may sound like a sci-fi film plot but the hope is that it could form the real-life basis for valuable treatments.”
