Heart attack fear over traffic
LIVING near a busy road could trigger a heart attack.
Long-term exposure to toxic air particles from traffic can clog the arteries, research has found.
It is the latest evidence to show that living near a main road has a dramatic impact on health.
Last year experts found even loud traffic increases the risk of a heart attack.
Now a study presented in Rome says pollution causes an imbalance in the nervous system, affecting blood pressure, blood fats and clotting.
The research was by the West-German Heart Centre in Essen.
