Does birth month influence personality?
STUDIES have found that babies born between October and March are more sensation-seeking than those born in spring and summer.
The neurotransmitter dopamine which governs mood has a determining role in whether we are extroverted or introverted, high-spirited or mellow, a busybody or a homebody.
Dopamine effects personality as well as mood
Testing the blood of infants and young adults, scientists found the highest levels of dopamine among those born in November and December and the lowest levels for those born in May and June.
This suggests the increase in thrill-seeking among autumn and winter-born babies may be related to the steeper increase in dopamine activity.
