Lawn expert shares 3 ‘simple’ jobs to complete for ‘greener’ grass in spring
As temperatures drop and frost sets in, a lawn expert has shared three lawn jobs to complete for a thriving garden in spring.

With many gardeners having completed the last mow of the year, the lawn mower may be back in the shed until spring. However, there are many other jobs to complete when it comes to grass.
With frost just around the corner, many Brits assume their lawns must go dormant until spring. But according to a lawn expert at The Grass People, “winter is not the end, it’s the preparation stage” for spring. Chris Mcllroy has shared three important tasks to complete this winter.

Spread precisely
Even the best lawn fertiliser underperforms if it isn’t applied evenly, according to the expert.
Chris said: “A spreader may seem simple, but it’s the secret to consistency. Every handful applied evenly saves you from patchy growth and wasted product.”
Feed for the season
It’s important to focus on slow, steady nourishment instead of quick fixes when it comes to the winter months.
There are many lawn feeds on the market, and it’s important to pick one suitable for your lawn and its requirements.
The expert noted: “Apply in late autumn while the soil is still workable to lock in nutrients before growth slows.

“Our slow-release formulas mean fewer applications and less waste, ideal for time-poor gardeners who still want results.”
Control moss
Moss thrives in damp, shaded lawns when the grass weakens during the winter months.
Controlling moss can help to keep the lawn healthy and strong, without patchy areas coming spring.
There are many ways you can focus on preventing and removing moss, including using a winter feed and moss control formula.
The expert said: “Winter can be tough on lawns, but it doesn’t have to be the season of damage.
“By feeding your lawn and keeping moss in check now, you’re setting yourself up for a healthier, greener spring.”
Now is a great time to apply an autumn or winter feed, whilst January to March is a great time to use a moss control.
