Lawns will be free of ‘eyesore’ yellow patches when 2 items are added to the grass
Revive lawn grass and get rid of unwanted yellow patches made by dogs with a two-ingredient paste loved by gardening experts.

A gardening expert has shared a quick fix for anyone suffering from unsightly yellow patches on their garden lawns. Garden designer and TikTok creator Ish explained that these “pesky” yellow spots tend to appear when our four-legged friends walk over the garden.
However, Ish shared a simple lawn-friendly paste that will help the grass regrow quickly and get rid of any discoloration in a recent video. Ish captioned his video: “Yellow patches on your lawn can be an eyesore but it’s incredibly easy to bring them back to green. By making a lawn paste you are soaking the seeds in soil which can speed up germination and fit perfectly on your patches of lawn meaning it’ll look level too. Keep it well watered and in a couple weeks it’ll start to look as good as new.”

How to fix yellow lawn patches
Firstly, use a hand fork to scratch at dead grass on the surface. This will also help loosen up the soil in the affected areas.
You will then need to make what Ish dubbed a “lawn paste” made from multipurpose compost and grass seed. In a bowl add the compost and enough water to make sure it’s well-drenched, then follow with the grass seed.
Mix the grass seed in with the compost using your hands. Ish explained: “Now the reason I like to make this lawn paste is because the compost will retain the moisture quite nicely. And by smushing this over the top, it will create a nice layer ready for this to grow.

“Now grass seed only really needs about a centimetre to be deep, even surface level. But the slow bits will grow through, meaning it has a nice, strong lawn, obviously overseeded and looks fantastic.”
Once you’ve concocted the lawn paste, simply pat the mixture onto the yellow patches of grass. Ish continued: “And the really cool thing about doing it this way is it always works perfectly level with your existing grass. So in about a week or two it will blend in absolutely perfect.”
Give the lawn paste a good watering everyday or two to make sure it stays nice and hydrated. Ish warned to keep dogs away from the grass seed by covering the patches with some netting or some bamboo canes tied with some string.
This is to prevent the dogs walking over the patches and getting the seeds stuck in their paws and eating them. Ish explained that by keeping the lawn paste nice and hydrated, lawns will be restored to their former glory in around two weeks.
