Creative nutrient-rich ‘chop’ tip makes plants flourish using £1.50 kitchen staple
A lifestyle content creator has shown how one commonly-overlooked food item can be a game changer when it comes to improving the quality of your home plants.
A lifestyle expert has revealed how a banana peel can significantly improve your home gardening by giving your plants stronger roots.
The knowledgeable life hack expert unveiled his advice in a TikTok clip, which has amassed nearly half a million likes since its upload.
This TikTok creator, username Creative Explained (@creative_explained), begins his plant care tutorial by recommending you chop up a leftover banana peel instead of throwing it away.
After chopping the peel into several pieces about one inch wide with a kitchen knife, he instructs viewers to place each piece into a cup or a bowl.
Next, the lifestyle expert fills his container with water and asks those performing the hack to let the peel pieces soak for about an hour.

He explains that while the peel sections are soaking, they release potassium, phosphorus, calcium, and magnesium — all nutrients plants need to form stronger roots and healthier stems.
This content creator specifies that you can use this water for indoor and outdoor plants.
He emphasizes that this home hack allows you to skip buying chemical fertilizers for plants and the store.
