There have been several food recalls in the last couple of weeks, including several supermarkets. M&S is the latest retailer to join the recall, issuing an urgent alert about one of its cheese products. The recall has been published on both the retailers’ websites and the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The food item is being withdrawn from stores in ROI and NI only due to safety concerns. Customers who have purchased the following item should return it immediately to their nearest store for a full refund.

M&S is recalling M&S Food Truffle Gouda due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Product details:

Product code: 29424887

Pack size: 150g

Use by: October 9, 2026

The FSA stated: “Symptoms caused by Listeria monocytogenes can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.

“However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

“Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.”

M&S added that they take “food safety extremely seriously”, with customer safety of “paramount importance”.

The retailer said: “Please do not consume this product. Any customers in possession of this product can return it to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.

“Only the displayed date codes are impacted. No other M&S products are affected.”

The supermarket apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused and asked them to contact it on 03330148555 for further information.
