Amazon spring sale shoppers rush to snap up £50 bottle of Talisker for less than £27

Few pleasures in life, in moderation, can beat that of a good dram of whisky, whether toasting with friends or cosying up on a chilly evening.

This weekend, a 70cl bottle of Talisker Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky, usually retailing at £49.45, is 46% off for Amazon's Spring Deal Days sale, coming in at £26.50. But you'll have to be quick - the sale ends on Monday.

Talisker is characterised by a spicy-smoky taste, which comes from the burnt peat during malting. According to Amazon, the whisky carries the salty smoke of the island exposed to the wind and waves.

According to Talisker, the whisky's crisp citrus aromas and subtle sweetness are enhanced by the ageing in refill and charred American oak casks, which provide depth of flavour. "Under the smoke, you can taste soft fruits and cereal notes with a distinct peppery finish".

Talisker Skye has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars on Amazon, with almost 1,000 five-star reviews. One buyer dubbed it "Exceptionally smooth with real character," writing: "From the first pour, you can tell this isn't a generic bottle trying to blend in-it has its own personality. The aroma opens with warm notes of caramel and vanilla, followed by a subtle oakiness that hints at quality ageing.

"On the palate, it's incredibly smooth with a well-balanced flavour profile. You get a touch of sweetness up front, then light spice and toasted oak that linger just long enough without being overpowering. No harsh burn, no bitterness-just a clean, satisfying finish."

Another buyer enjoyed Talisker, but feels there are better whiskies out there, writing: "Well worth purchasing while on sale. Talisker Skye has notes of pepper, smoky sea air, and a touch of malt. It is a hot whisky but not overwhelming, and the sea saltiness keeps things interesting. There is a small amount of a gentle sweetness that lingers. It's a whisky I'd recommend for sipping in the comfort of your own place with mates.

“There are better options out there, such as Arran 10-year-old. However if this is on sale, definitely grab it.”

Meanwhile, another shopper wrote: “Think camp fire. Smokey and Peaty with a fiery hit. If you like the peaty flavour this is definitely for you and at a better price point than others. However if you don't like peaty whisky go for something more mellow like Glenlivet.”
