'Brilliant' TikTok 'hack' using common kitchen item has people divided
A 'brilliant' life hack for a common task when cooking, baking, or making cocktails has people on TikTok divided

Social media is awash with 'life hacks' promising to make everyday tasks a breeze - but one shared on TikTok has left viewers divided. Zesting a lemon or another citrus fruit like a lime can be a bit of a faff when cooking, baking, or mixing cocktails. The zest often gets lodged in the grater and can be tricky to remove.
A video clip, captioned 'Brilliant life hack', demonstrates a method of zesting a lemon without the zest getting stuck in the grater. The footage, which has attracted more than 92,000 likes, shows greaseproof paper being wrapped around a cheese grater, secured with elastic bands at the top and bottom.

With the words "I wish I knew this sooner" displayed on screen, the user is then seen grating a lemon against the greaseproof paper, leaving the zest gathered on the paper instead of wedged in the grater's teeth. They then peel off the paper and scrape the zest off the paper with a knife.
However, not everyone was sold on the idea, with several TikTok users expressing their confusion in the comments section of the video, reports the Mirror.
One commented: "How is this a hack? This looks like more work, more resources used, and potentially hazardous from potentially grated paper.."
Another queried: "There's no little parchment pieces in it?" To which someone responded: "There is," followed by a crying emoji.
Yet another user shared: "A 'hack' I learned to clean these is to use a toothbrush! It helped so much."
One person commented: "People so against cleaning these days?" Another user retorted: "Nah dawg have YOU ever tried cleaning the grater from zest?!?".
Another chimed in: "Omg just put a plate under," to which someone responded: "Omg she's doing this so it won't get stuck in the grater." Another replied: "It's not about collecting it. It's about keeping it from getting stuck in the grater holes and being harder to clean."
A different user suggested: "Just invest in a zester! You can even buy one at the dollar store." But a reply to this read: "I have the same problem with my zester unfortunately."
Someone else quipped: "I would rather do the dishes than eat paper." A different user said: "No thanks... I’d rather not pick bits of that c*** out of my zest." And another said: "Why do you like suffering?"
And another advised: "Use the dish brushes to wash the graters." Another simply said: "Genius."
