Avocado on toast will be tastier if you season it with 1 kitchen ingredient everybody has
Many people believe avocado on toast is a boring breakfast, but it turns out it will taste really creamy as you season it with a simple ingredient everyone has in their kitchen.

Avocado toast is a fantastic choice when you want a healthy yet satisfying breakfast, but it can often taste a little bland if you are not seasoning it properly. Andrea, a cook and founder of With Citrus and Salt, has shared that avocados on their own are actually quite plain, and you need to add lemon juice to unlock their flavour.
She said: “If you have ever wondered why your avocado toast at home doesn't taste like what you order at your favourite brunch spot, it's likely because you are missing the lemon juice. That hit of tartness (and a little sprinkle of salt) turns the avocado into absolute perfection.”

Avocados contain healthy fats which give them a buttery texture, but these fats also dull their flavour and can make them taste very flat.
Lemon juice contains citric acid, which cuts through the richness of the avocado fats and helps brighten up the flavour so the fruit tastes creamy.
The citric acid in lemon juice also prevents avocado slices turning brown, and is a simple way to help the fruit taste a lot fresher.
Seasoning avocados with lemon juice will amplify their natural taste while salt is needed to help cut through any bitterness in the fruit so your breakfast is more enjoyable to eat.

How to make tastier avocado on toast
You will need:
- One medium avocado
- One teaspoon of lemon juice
- A sprinkle of salt
- Two slices or bread
If you wish, you can also add other toppings like red pepper flakes, a soft-boiled egg, tomatoes or even bacon to your avocado toast.
Instructions
To begin, toast your two slices of bread. You can pop them in a toaster or use a frying pan on the stove.
Next, slice the avocado in half, and cut the flesh into cubes. Remove the pit and peel of the avocado, place in a pot, then mash with a fork.
Mash the avocado for a minute if you want a smooth texture, and only mash it for about 30 seconds if you want it a little chunky.
Stir in the lemon juice and a sprinkle of salt into the mashed avocado. Spread the mixture onto toast, add any other toppings you like, and your avocado on toast should be bursting with flavour.
