'I made carrot fries in my air fryer and it was healthier and tastier than chips'
A food expert has suggested a "tastier and healthier" carrot fries recipe that only takes 15 minutes to make in an air fryer

When I’m craving something crispy, crunchy and salty, I always cook up a bowl of chips, but I am always wary of how unhealthy it is due to the high calorie, fat, and sodium content. Fortunately, I found a healthy recipe alternative from Pinch Me Good, which suggests making these healthy and tasty carrot fries that only take 15 minutes to make in an air fryer.
The food expert shared: "These carrot fries are the next best thing to traditional fries, but way healthier and packed with so much flavour. My kids actually devoured these, and I almost didn’t get any. Luckily, I made them several times just to make sure I got them just right for you all, so I did get to try them, and wow, they are delicious!"

Ingredients
- Whole Carrots
- Avocado oil
- Seasoning: garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Optional garnish ingredients: dried parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
Method
To begin with, peel the carrots using a vegetable peeler. Trim off the ends, and if the carrots are long, cut them in half.
Then, slice the carrots into thin sticks similar in size to traditional fries. The expert shared that the thinner the fries are, the more they will crisp up better and cook more quickly.

In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, salt, and pepper with the carrot sticks. Drizzle avocado oil on top of the carrot sticks and then toss them well, then sprinkle the seasoning mix over the fries.
Toss again to ensure they're evenly coated. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C. Once it's ready, spray the air fryer basket with a light coating of olive oil spray to prevent sticking.
Arrange the carrot fries in a single layer in the basket. Cook them for eight to 12 minutes until they’re golden and crispy, shaking the basket about halfway through to ensure even cooking.
Let the fries cool slightly once they're cooked. Transfer them to a plate and finish with a light sprinkle of parmesan cheese and fresh parsley before serving.
The expert warns that if your carrots come out soggy, they are either too thick or the temperature is not high enough.

How to cook in an oven
Prepare the recipe up to the point where the carrots are seasoned. Preheat your oven to 230°C or gas mark 8 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Arrange the carrot fries in a single layer on the sheet, making sure they aren’t overlapping. Bake for 20 minutes until they're tender and crispy, flipping them about halfway through to ensure even browning.
Once done, remove from the oven, add your favourite garnish, and serve.
