Keep Sunday roast leftovers fresh 'for up to four days' with expert's food storage tip
A Sunday roast is the heart and soul of British cuisine and the perfect way to round off the week with friends or family.

While a Sunday roast is a meal to be cooked, savoured and enjoyed in good company, leftovers can quickly turn into a source of worry.
With so many components to manage, it can feel tricky to know how to keep them fresh for longer without resorting to the bin.
To help you get the most out of your Sunday roast, Vlatka Lake, storage expert at self-storage operator Space Station, told Express.co.uk her top tips for enjoying your Sunday roast for up to four days.
According to Vlatka, the key is to store each component separately, as this “helps preserve texture and flavour and make reheating each item much easier, whether that’s via the microwave or your oven."
For maximum freshness, the expert advised placing each element in individual airtight containers and storing them in the fridge.

She said: “Ensure everything is fully cooled to reduce the risk of bacterial growth and prevent condensation, particularly amongst your roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and stuffing."
She also highlighted the importance of keeping gravy separate from your other leftovers to avoid excess moisture.
When it comes to roasted vegetables and potatoes, Vlatka recommends using shallow containers to avoid sogginess.

“Roasted vegetables and potatoes should also be kept in a shallow container, if possible, to avoid sogginess,” she suggested.
If you have a large portion of meat left over, it’s best to slice it into smaller pieces before storing it.
"This allows for easier storage, quicker cooling, and more convenient reheating," Vlatka explained.
Wrapping each portion tightly in foil or cling film before placing it in an airtight container will ensure it stays fresh.
By following these methods, you can keep your Sunday roast leftovers in top condition, ready to eat or repurpose for days.
