Moong dal halwa
Moong dal halwa is a classic delicious Indian sweet that is very easy to prepare. This is a perfect recipe for a great dessert and just right for the special party you were planning for the weekend. Serves 10.
INGREDIENTS
500g moong dal you can find it in an Indian grocery store
250g ghee clarified butter
350g sugar
250ml milk
5g powdered green cardamom
75g fried whole cashew nut
50g raisins
100g khoya you can find it in an Indian grocery store
METHOD
1 Soak moong dal in water for half an hour. Drain the water.
2 Make a fine paste of moong dal in a grinder.
3 Heat the ghee in a wok and fry the paste till the ghee is released.
4 Add sugar, milk, green cardamom, cashew nuts, raisins and the grated khoya.
5 Stir for a few more minutes and serve hot.
